Editorial Process
Every article on Doggos follows the same process before it publishes, though how much of it leans on firsthand experience versus research depends on the topic.
Senior dog care
These guides start from firsthand experience with four senior dogs over a lifetime, including real health issues along the way — see our About page for specifics. Firsthand experience tells us what actually mattered day to day; we still cross-check nutritional claims against AAFCO guidelines and current veterinary literature before recommending anything.
Dog allergies and anxious/reactive dogs
These guides are research-driven. For every product we recommend, we:
- Cross-reference ingredient lists against known canine allergens and AAFCO nutritional standards
- Read verified buyer reviews for patterns the manufacturer's listing won't mention
- Check the claim against a veterinary or behaviorist source rather than repeating manufacturer marketing copy
- Have a licensed veterinary reviewer sign off before publishing [PLACEHOLDER: name/credentials once secured]
How we pick products
We look for a specific use case a product actually solves — not just star rating. A product's price tier, most common complaint, and who it's a bad fit for all get called out explicitly rather than buried. If we haven't personally used a product, we say so.
Updates
Product availability and pricing change. We periodically recheck featured products and note when an article was last updated at the top of the page.
